Annual Professional Development

Article 11 in our collective agreement specifies that all full time faculty are entitled to 10 days of professional development each year. These days can be taken for any PD related activities; you do not have to be attending a conference or course to qualify for PD. Examples of valid PD activities include personal research, course material development etc…

Using the PD days allows you to work outside the college, on your own schedule and free from the distractions that come from working at the office. All a faculty member has to do to receive 10 PD days is complete a PD form, have a preliminary discussion with their immediate Supervisor, and as the Article stipulates, the College cannot unreasonably withhold the request. We encourage all faculty to take advantage of this benefit.
