Workload Monitoring

The Workload Monitoring Group (WMG) is a committee of union and management representatives that meets regularly to address workload issues involving faculty. Steven Boaro will be tabling his full WMG report at the AGM on Friday, but here are highlights of a few of the issues addressed by this important committee this year:

  • Faculty with Many Managers: Some Faculty were confused when they received different directives from more than one supervisor. College directed to the Collective Agreement, specifically Article 11.02 A 1 (a) . . . “the supervisor shall discuss the proposed workload with the teacher . . . .”
  • Workload Complaints: The WMG received many workload complaints this Semester. Some were resolved before a hearing was necessary. Others were resolved after a hearing much to the satisfaction of the complainant.
  • Aboriginal Content: The Union asked Management for time on SWFs to accommodate the College’s expansion into Aboriginal course content. The College refused.

Remember that if you have a disagreement with your supervisor about your assigned workload, the WGM is there for you. You can refer any disputed SWF to the WGM simply by completing the form that comes with the official copy of your SWF.
